Tunic Time

So, I've taken the sewing plunge, and actually ORDERED (after much deliberation) fabric to sew my nieces some tunics I have in mind...something that would be cool worn over jeans, or fun to wear to the beach. I'm thinking sleeveless and gathered around the neck. I have no intention of following a pattern, so we'll see if my vision works!

Pop Garden Peony Rose by Heather Bailey from Fabric.com

Anna Maria Horner's Sun Fortune from JCaroline Creative.

I love the look of tunics worn over jeans. If I can actually pull this off...perhaps I'll make one for myself. Here are a few others that I think look great:
From Boden:

From Pamela Tang's Etsy shop:
Tory Burch from Bloomingdales:
Have a good weekend everybody!

oooohhhh, LOVE that yellow one from Boden. Don't really wear tunics though, I just can't help but feel fat in them. lol. Even though I do sometimes where an embroidered white linen tunic that my ex's parents brought me back from Egypt.

What a great idea! I need to purchase some fabric but I'm still scared to take the plunge. Love your fabric choices. Can't wait to see the end result.

Beautiful!!!! My sister, who is style embodied, travels to Paris on a regular basis, and found the cutest store that has lovely tunics. She bought one there that is always the hit of the beach or pool. The store is called Fragonard.

Now I am off to check out Boden's tunics!

ooh, I'm in love with the Anna Maria Horner fabric. Her fabrics are so beautiful you can't go wrong. Whatever comes out, I'm sure your nieces will appreciate a handmade gift. I'll enjoy reading about your sewing adventures. One day, I hope to get my own sewing machine but for now I, too, hate the bobbin thread. Maybe it's because my only sewing efforts have been on my mom's ultra-old (and complicated) sewing machine
