My poor sister is TRYING to finish three new board books that she wrote and is illustrating. She's under a tight deadline, and of course, this is when everything goes wrong. My brother-in-law had fairly simple knee surgery....which then got sore/swollen/infected/late-night-night-trip-to-the-emergency-room (so not so simple). The kids have been sick, out of school, and she has to have minor surgery herself next week.
How do you...my blogger friends, stay sane, and somewhat positive when everything hits the fan at once? Inquiring sisters need to know!
Here's a tiny (unauthorized) sneak peek of the one of the books she's working on (HELLO, VERMONT)...so cute, right?
And, P.S., here's another (blurry) sneak peek of what our playdate was like today. I have an artistic show-off on my hands!

Ha, ha! Jake looks cute w/paint on his face. No worries, putting paint in their mouth stops at some point. My daughter would try to eat it like soup. As far as staying sane, tell your sister to just drink plenty of non-caffeine tea, listen to relaxing music and hunker down at night w/the book deadline work. When I'm feeling overwhelmed, I just try to take it a little bit at a time, focusing on what needs to be done at that point (ie, feeding the kids, etc.) and definitely letting go of non-essentials (ie. cleaning bathrooms) So just focus on essentials and take it one step at a time. By the way, I've always imagined that putting together a book is a fascinating creative process. Is it really? Maybe I'm a nerd, but I'd love to read about something like this in a future post.
That sounds pretty tough. I am with Minnie. I only do what needs to be done and not worry about all the other non-essential things. Take everything off your plate that doesn't serve a purpose for the moment. Hope things get better soon for your sister. Thankfully she has you for support too.
