I came across this cute button-up window shade idea from Martha Stewart. It couldn't be easier to make, and you could do so (sew?) many things with it. Two coordinating fabrics would look adorable in a kids room...stripes and polka dots? Bigger buttons? It probably works best on a window that you're not going to want to put up and down the shade very often.

Love this look; I can see it working in any non-formal space. It would be a nice way of using some interesting fabrics in a fairly low-cost, low-risk way.
